Michael Jordan

Wonder who made the Air Jordan or thought about who was the best basketball player? Michael Jordan (or in his Intel MJ) , retired professional basketball player was born in 1963, Brooklyn, New York but moved to Wilmington, North Carolina as a young child. I chose Michael Jordan because I play basketball and like watching him dunk.

Michael Jordan had four siblings. Two older brothers, an older sister and a younger sister. Michael Jordan's mother was Deloris and father, James. Michael Jordan was the fourth of fifth kid. James Jordan was a mechanic and Deloris Jordan was a bank teller (cashier). After Michael Jordan was born, James and Deloris felt that the streets of Brooklyn were unsafe to raise a family so they moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. As a youngster, Michael Jordan immediately became interested in sports. However it was baseball that he loved more than basketball. He started to play basketball to try and follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Larry. At Larry High School, as a sophomore, he decided to try out for the varsity team but was cut because he was raw and undersized. The following summer, he grew four inches and practised tirelessly. The hard work payed off as he averaged 25 points per game in his last two years and was selected to the McDonald's all American team as a senior.

Michael Jordan started his NBA career in 1984 and ended his career in 2003. He played for the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards. He played for the Chicago bulls for 14 years (1984 - 1998) and the Washington Wizards for 2 years (2001 - 2003.) Michael Jordan had 32,292 points at his end of his career. He is now the proud owner of the Charlotte Hornets and a businessman, he even has his own shoe brand (Air Jordans). In 1993, his father, James Jordan was killed in North Carolina. Two locals (Daniel Green and Larry Martin Demery, who carjacked the luxury vehicle) had robbed him, shot him on the chest and threw his body in a swamp.

Michael Jordan end his career in 2003 (1995 - 2003). He played baseball but On October 6, 1993, Jordan announced his retirement, citing a loss of desire to play the game. Jordan later stated that the death of his father earlier in the year also shaped his decision. Michael Jordan made more money selling his shoes (100$ million) than in his 15th season (94$ million).

Michael Jordan was an honored player for the Chicago Bulls. He has donated millions of dollars to charity and to help the country. We don’t have to donate money but can still change the world in different ways.  We should remember Michael Jordan because he has showed us that we should never give up and always try our best.
