positive digital footprint (summer learning journey)

This is a post about some of the things you can do to retain and have a positive digital footprint.

Cia here from the Summer Learning Journey Ako Hiko team.

I can see you have thought a bit about what a digital footprint represents and how we can be smarter online. You made a good point about thinking before you post something. Often we can make the mistake of posting something we think may be funny, but it could also be hurtful to someone else. Thinking before we post can help us avoid that completely. :)

I am curious about your statement talking about deleting old accounts or accounts that you don't need.. Is there a reason why anyone would need lots of different email accounts?

Perhaps next time you could talk a bit more about what we should be sharing and maybe give some advice about what to do if you personal information does get shared online. Sometimes personal and private information can get into the wrong hands. What steps do you think you should take if someone does find out your password? Who should you talk to first?

All this reminds me of when I am with friends and family, we like to take lots of silly pics pulling crack up faces and poses, but we’re pretty careful about setting them to private if we decide to upload them. Understanding how and what we share is pretty important!

Keep up the good work Andrew.

Toe feiloa’i fo’i (see you again),

    Cia.

  3. Kia ora AJ,
    it's Claire here.
I like your Digital Footprint, my favorite way to keep safe is 'Think before you do anything'. You should always think before you do.
This reminds me of Miss Mills(teacher of Room 25) always saying we need to think before we say, do or post anything.
I don't really understand 'Delete old or accounts you don't need'. I agree with Cia, why do you need so many email accounts?

Next time, I think you can add a bit more information about what happens if your personal information is shared online.
You could also maybe jazz your footprint up a bit.
