Room 20 has been learning about report writing and I chose to write about the solar system and space. I used a website called spacefacts.com. please comment.

solar system and planets The Solar System is a group of eight planets that revolves around a star known as the Sun. Why it Is rotating and not separating? Because the Sun has gravity and pulling The other planets to it (most stars and planets have gravity). The Sun The Sun is the only star in the Solar System the rest are planets. The closest planet to the Sun is Mercury, then Venus, Earth and Mars. The Sun is 149.6 million km from Earth. The Sun is very hot but compare this to the sun Rigel is a planet that is 10726.85 Celsius, that is almost double the hotness of the Sun. Mercury The smallest planet in the solar system is Mercury, Pluto is smaller than Mercury but it is not a planet. A year on Mercury is 88 days on Earth that means Mercury spins very slowly. (Earth has 356 years every year). Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and also the second hottest planet following Venus. Earth Earth is over 4 billion years old and the only known planet and star that has living things. The Earth is the only planet that has water or liquid on its surface. People say one day is 24 hours but is actually 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds. The Earth is the only planet that is 21 percent oxygen. Light Years The speed of light is 300,000 per second so in one year (on Earth) light will travel 9,460,000,000,000 trillion kms per year! A light year is a measurement that scientists use to calculate the distance of space and Universe.
