(Earth has 356 years every year). Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and also the second hottest planet following Venus. Earth Earth is over 4 billion years old and the only known planet and star that has living things. The Earth is the only planet that has water or liquid on its surface. People say one day is 24 hours but is actually 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds. The Earth is the only planet that is 21 percent oxygen. Light Years The speed of light is 300,000 per second so in one year (on Earth) light will travel 9,460,000,000,000 trillion kms per year! A light year is a measurement that scientists use to calculate the distance of space and Universe.
